2026 Belmont Forum TD Photo Competition Gallery

At the heart of the Belmont Forum, our work is defined by the collaborative, cross-boundary research that addresses our world’s most pressing challenges. Yet, transdisciplinary research often happens in the field – far from labs and offices – in moments of genuine human connection, community resilience, and transformative discovery. This gallery is a visual storytelling space. This year we invited our project team members – from Collaborative Research Actions (CRAs) to those supported by the Global Development Network (GDN) and EPIC-N – to capture the real-world impact of their work. These images offer a window into the dedication, inventiveness, and partnership required to move from research to societal impact. We are proud to present these stories of change. Now, we invite you to help us celebrate this impactful work by casting your vote.

How to Vote

We invite you to explore the submissions in the gallery below. Once you have reviewed the photos and their accompanying narratives, please cast your vote for the image that you feel most powerfully captures the essence of transdisciplinary impact using this Voting Form.

What to Consider

When casting your vote, we encourage you to look beyond the photography itself. While composition and artistic merit are key, the heart of this competition lies in the story being told. Please consider the following aspects as you evaluate each entry:

Societal Impact

Does the image clearly illustrate the tangible, real-world impact of the project?

Transdisciplinary Approach

Does it effectively capture the spirit of transdisciplinarity - the "how" of the research in action?

Integration of Knowledge

Does the photo demonstrate the integration of different "ways of knowing," bringing diverse perspectives together to solve a problem?

Community Engagement

Does it authentically show the engagement between researchers and relevant social actors or communities?

Storytelling

Is the narrative description inspiring, clear, and informative? Does it provide the context necessary to understand the "why" and "how" behind the moment captured?

Thank you for participating and for helping us amplify the incredible stories of transformation across our global community.
