The Belmont Forum is proud to officially announce the inaugural 2026 Advancing Leadership Program (ALP) Fellowship Cohort.
It is a new global initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders equipped to address the world’s most pressing environmental challenges through transdisciplinary collaboration.
A Global Cohort of Emerging Leaders
The 2026 ALP Fellowship Cohort brings together 13 Transdisciplinary (TD) Pairs, representing diverse regions and a wide range of Global Environmental Change (GEC) contexts.
Selected through a rigorous international review process, these fellows demonstrated:
- Strong transdisciplinary collaboration
- High leadership potential
- Commitment to equitable and impactful research
- Alignment with the vision and values of the ALP
Together, they form a distinguished international cohort of emerging transdisciplinary leaders, working across disciplines, sectors, and geographies to co-create solutions to complex sustainability challenges.
A New Approach to Leadership
At the heart of ALP is a commitment to transdisciplinary (TD) research, which goes beyond academia to actively involve societal actors in the co-creation of knowledge and solutions.
This approach enables:
- More inclusive and context-relevant outcomes
- Integration of diverse perspectives and knowledge systems
- Stronger connections between science, policy, and society
ALP equips fellows with the skills, tools, and mindset needed to navigate these complexities—emphasizing collaboration, trust-building, and cross-cultural engagement.
