The Forum announces the launch of the Belmont Forum Foundation (BFF), a new non-profit initiative established to mobilize funds and develop blended-finance tools to support transdisciplinary research.
Conceived in 2025, the Foundation complements the work of the Belmont Forum by supporting initiatives that help remove barriers to participation and foster broader engagement across the global research community.
At a time when environmental and societal challenges are becoming increasingly interconnected, the need for collaborative research has never been greater. However, unequal access to funding and participation opportunities continues to limit who can contribute and benefit from global research efforts.
The Belmont Forum Foundation was established to help address these challenges by enabling more equitable access to research opportunities and supporting stronger international collaboration.

The BFF focuses on mobilizing resources to support the following focus areas:
- Equitable participation of researchers from Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs)
- Inclusion of non-academic community partners and societal actors in research initiatives
- Capacity-building initiatives
By advancing these priorities, the Foundation supports the continued development of Belmont Forum activities, fosters the creation and experimentation of blended financing tools to help deliver the Belmont Challenge, and promotes broader global participation in transdisciplinary research.
