Celebrating the winners of the 2024 Call for Research Action Photo Competition

The 2024 CRA (Call for Research Action) Photo Competition at the Sustainability, Research, and Innovation congress (SRI/SSD 2024) was a success, showcasing the work being done by researchers across the globe.  We received a diverse range of submissions that captured the essence of transdisciplinary research, stakeholder engagement, and the impact of CRAs projects.  We want to thank everyone who participated, especially those who took the time to vote for their favorite images.

This year’s winners not only demonstrate their visual storytelling, but also highlight the role of collaboration and innovation in tackling global challenges.

This project emphasizes the collaborative approach to driving sustainability transformations in local food supply chains.

2nd winner: “Blue carbon cultivation” by Tomoko Takeda

The image underscores the innovative solutions being developed to protect our marine ecosystems.

3rd winner: “Shades of joy and loss” by Tanguy Sandré

From the ARCTIC II Sense Making, Place attachment and Extended networks as sources of Resilience in the Arctic (SeMPER-Arctic) project, this image reveals the complex interplay of tradition, conservation, and climate change in the Arctic.  The photo prompts reflection on the interconnectedness of human and non-human life and the ethical challenges of balancing cultural practices with environmental sustainability.
