Four Brazilian institutions have submitted their annexes to participate in the Ocean 2 CRA: the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Santa Catarina Research Foundation (Fapesc), Pernambuco Research Foundation (Facepe), and Espírito Santo Research Foundation (Fapes). This expansion opens the door for researchers and societal partners across Brazil to submit their pre-proposals and join this collaborative research action.

Explore the Ocean 2 Collaborative Research Action (CRA)
The OCEAN 2 CRA is dedicated to supporting transdisciplinary research that addresses pressing global ocean challenges. Projects are expected to run for 36 months and require truly transdisciplinary research consortia. These consortia must include three or more participants from at least three different countries, combining expertise from social sciences, natural sciences (STEM), and societal partners, such as industry, policymakers, and citizens.
Key Focus Areas
Proposals must focus on at least one of the following three key areas:
- Biodiversity Conservation and Nature-Based Solutions
- Ocean-Biodiversity-Climate Integration
- Nature Futures, Ocean Governance, and Ethics for Sustainability
The submission process for CRA Ocean 2 will be in two stages:
