International Data Week formally opened last night in Denver, Colorado with very positive discussions about data sharing, interoperability, stewardship, incentives, training, and metrics for assessing improvement towards a more open data universe. Belmont Forum members and partners, as well as the Secretariat Director, Erica Key, and new C3O coordination officer, Bob Samors, are in attendance, meeting with global and national data managers and funders to link efforts that will advance the Forum’s open data policy and principles.

We welcome Bob to the Belmont Forum family and look forward to having productive discussions with our colleagues and partners at ICSU, GEO, CODATA, RDA, Polar Data Forum, WDS, OECD and many others during this exciting week.
