The East Asia Science and Innovation Area Joint Research Program, or e-ASIA JRP, invited the Belmont Forum secretariat to join the e-ASIA JRP Annual Board Meeting on 7 September 2023 in a session called “Conversations with Potential Partners” to present the mechanism and programs of the Belmont Forum to the members of e-Asia JRP, who are research funders from The East Asia Summit (EAS) member countries. Most are not members of the Belmont Forum, but some showed interest in joining. The session was received with great interest. Many similarities between the two networks were noticed and briefly discussed. All agreed that there is potential for collaboration, which is to be further explored.

Following the meeting, e-Asia JRP secretariat and Belmont Forum secretariat plan to convene in the upcoming months to exchange practices and discuss more on future collaboration.
